Issues like low wages, poor treatment, and disorganized surroundings were only part of their laments, and the strike served as inspiration for the holiday’s inception.
The following year, women’s rights advocate Clara Zetkin spurred a movement that transformed the day into an international celebration. Today, people worldwide celebrate this day first spearheaded by thousands of brave, dedicated women who were determined to fight for equality. That iconic and inspiring mission remains the same today.

In honor of International Women’s Day, PlantShed is donating 8% of its proceeds to Catalyst, a nonprofit International Women’s Day charity partner. The organization is committed to breaking down barriers and establishing equality for women in the workplace.
